Amalfi, Summer Rhythm

During the day the Amalfi Coast is full of movement — boats crossing the water, swimmers gathering near the shore, terraces above the cliffs filling with people. The air carries the sound of the sea, conversations from the cafés, and the steady rhythm of summer life along the coast.

Later in the day the light softens. Colours settle across the cliffs and water, and the pace begins to shift slightly.

Along the cliffs there are small places like this — docks, terraces and houses facing the water. By late afternoon the light softens and everything slows slightly. Warm air lingers above the water.

People return to the water throughout the day. Some float quietly, others swim or talk along the edge. The scene changes constantly, but the rhythm remains familiar.

From above, these moments begin to form small patterns — swimmers moving through the water, drifting between activity and rest, each person absorbed in their own version of summer. Days along the Amalfi coast often follow this rhythm.

As the light lowers, the coastline changes again. Contrast softens and colours settle across the cliffs and water.

Roads that were busy during the day grow quiet, and the atmosphere becomes calmer.

Travel fades.

What remains is warmth — and the memory of places like this along the Amalfi coast.

A selection of these photographs appears in the collection Amalfi Life.
